PSA CHARITABLE FOUNDATIONS:A BRIEF INTRODUCTION             2012.05.22

Ⅰ.THE BEGINNING

The year 2000 witnessed a significant beginning for the Passive System Alliance’s (PSA) involvement with charitable foundations. In view of the massive damages to Central Taiwan by the 921 Earthquake, the PSA Group took on an active role in the reconstruction of that area. With the full support of the PSA, an ”Adopt a Persimmon” project was launched to help buy up the locally produced persimmons. PSA members also visited the disaster area in person and arranged fundings for the provision of nutritious lunches to the school children there. This voluntary participation in the care and development of remote communities has since become an indelible part of PSA’s corporate culture. The passion found resonance within the corporation and more and more employees become involved. The PSA understands that this is a social responsibility the Alliance has to help shoulder. To facilitate operation, the individual charitable organizations within the PSA Group, the Ci-Hui Clubs, were integrated into one Walsin Hann Star Charitable Foundation in the year 2002. In 2007, to differentiate the Foundation from the corporate proper, it was renamed the PSA Charitable Foundation. Governed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Foundation is regularly sponsored by Walsin Technology Corporation, HannStar Board Corporation, Prosperity Dieletrics Co. Ltd., Walton Advanced Engineering, Inc., Global Brands Manufacture Ltd., and Info-Tek Corporation.

Following the corporate development in Mainland China, the PSA Charitable Foundation further extended its commitment to include similar underprivileged communities in China. The Jiang-Su PSA Charitable Foundation was established in May 2011 to provide faster and better services to the people on the Mainland.
